Sung Eucharist and Confirmations
26 November 2023 @ 9:30 am – 10:45 am
On 26 November we celebrate the patronal festival of our parish church, St Andrew. On this occasion Bishop John Roundhill will be visiting our parish and this provides the opportunity for the offering of rites to mark different points of our spiritual journey.
Confirmation is a rite whereby the candidate “confirms” the promises that were made when they were baptised. It is a choice to affirm these promises for yourself and commit your life to following Jesus the Christ.
Often, people may join our faith community from other denominations. They may have already been confirmed or been baptised as an adult. In these situations, reception into the Anglican communion is the appropriate rite. It can be a moment of celebrating a new home found in the faith journey and a commitment to continuing to walk Jesus’ way.
Sometimes there can be a moment in a spiritual journey where there has been a significant shift, renewal of faith or sense of recommitment to the way of Jesus. This can happen at any stage of our lives as faith is an unfolding journey that continues across a lifetime. To witness publicly to this move of the Holy Spirit, members of our community may choose to present themselves for a renewal of baptismal vows.
Please contact Rev’d Sue for more information and prayerfully consider whether any of these rites are “right” for you or someone you know. Sue would love to have a conversation with you if you would simply like to discuss or find out more.
