Sept 1

From September 1 to October 4, Christians around the world celebrate the Season of Creation. There will be a Special Evensong Service and launch of Season of Creation at St John’s Anglican Cathedral on September 1 at 6pm with Archbishop Peter Loy Chong as guest speaker. St Andrew’s will be recognising this annual celebration of prayer and action to protect creation and our liturgy during September will reflect the season. At St Andrew’s, this season culminates with a pet blessing service on October 13 at 11:30am.

Katherine and Amanda from our choir hope you can come to our next concert: Sunday 15 September, 2.30pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 369 Given Terrace, Rosalie. Canticum Chamber Choir presents “Love and Mercy”, a selection of glorious a cappella works to warm the heart. Centring around Frank Martin’s remarkable Mass for Double Choir, the program also features various settings of the ancient text Ubi Caritas, along with Franz Biebl’s much-loved Ave Maria. Tickets ($35/$25/under 16 free) are available at the door, from Katherine at a discount, or through 4MBS Ticketing (ph. 3847 1717 or 4mbs.com.au).

Sept 22

Bishop John Roundhill will be visiting us on September 22 and will be offering the rite of confirmation, and the re-affirmation of baptismal vows. Re-affirmation of baptismal vows is a rite available to anyone who may be returning to the church after a period of absence, or who is experiencing faith in a new or vital way. The reasons are many, and whether this rite could be “right” for you is best discerned in conversation.  If you or anyone in your family wishes to be confirmed, or participate in the re-affirmation of baptismal vows, please contact Rev’d Sue Grimmett as soon as possible on mobile (0413 108 584) or email (suzanne.grimmett@anglicanchurchsq.org.au).

Pizza, Movie and Chat: Sunday 22 September 6-9pm in the Undercroft. Cinema can be a powerful medium to explore life and faith. Come along for this first of our movie events where we will screen Martin Scorcese’s film, Silence. Based on Shūsaku Endō’s book, this is a movie about the struggle for faith in a world marked by suffering and the silence of God. Cost (to those who can afford it): $10 to cover the pizza order and movie license.

Sept 28

Dec 8

Community Christmass Event: Planning is underway for a community Christmass event on Sunday 8 December, 6:00-9:00pm. We would like to include market stalls in addition to our own Christmas Stall, and are looking for someone to act as a contact person, inviting local market vendors to host a stall. This is only possible if someone is prepared to assist in this way, but support and contacts will be provided. Please talk to Sue or Deian Ping if you are interested or have any questions: we would love to hear from you!

Time to order your Australian Anglican Church Calendar for 2020. Details are at the back of the church. Cost $15.00 each.
