Join with the people of St Andrew’s Indooroopilly as we journey towards Christmas.
Advent is a season of preparation. Just as Mary and Joseph prepared for the birth of their child, so we prepare to meet Christ. In times past, it was traditional to pray, repent, and fast in preparation to celebrate Christmas. This year, we thought it would be good to step out of the busy-ness of our lives, particularly in the lead up to Christmas, and return to that sense of quiet reflection.
The candles of Advent mark the four preceding weeks and Christmas Day. Purple was the colour for royals and judges, and is used to symbolise the Hope Peace and Love of a different type of world in Christ. In the third week, the church injects a splash of rejoicing, and a pink candle symbolises Joy.
We will learn about the Christmas story, our communities, and our families as we open each window. Enjoy music, stories, reflections, and some craft ideas. Most craft uses materials from home, but if you’d like to make a nativity scene, you may wish to purchase some air dry clay or make some salt dough.
Christmas is the time God entered into Creation – Christ is here – what more wonderful thing to reflect upon in 2020.
