Thy will be done

In “Awakening My Faith,” Bishop Jeremy provides us with this reflection;

C.S. Lewis wrote “There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, “Thy will be done,” and those to whom God says, in the end, “Thy will be done.” All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell. No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it. Those who seek find. Those who knock it is opened.”

A wise old priest said to me once, “The two most important prayers that you can pray are two prayers of Jesus. ‘Thy will be done.’ and ‘Into your hands I commend my spirit.’ They are both about letting go of the illusion that you are in control, that you are God.” He finished, “Let God be God and work out what it means to be you.”

As we edge closer to Holy Week, what are the ways you might “let God be God” and find the most sacred communion of Divine presence in your everyday tasks and relationships?

Blessings on your Lenten journey.
